The post holder will help create a welcoming environment where Christ’s love is demonstrated in attitude, conduct, and conversation. Key responsibilities include preparing hot and cold dishes in line with recipes, allergen guidance, and food safety standards; maintaining high levels of cleanliness and hygiene across kitchen and storage areas; ensuring correct stock rotation and date control, particularly for high-risk items; assisting with daily specials and functions; and supporting the development of menu items, including the promotion of Caring For Life produce. Required training in food hygiene, health and safety, and related areas must be undertaken. The role also involves pastoral sensitivity, especially towards elderly and disabled customers, offering warmth, encouragement, and practical care. Participation in staff prayer, sharing personal testimony when appropriate, and occasionally representing the Charity to Christian groups form part of the post. Reporting to the Head Chef, the post holder must uphold high professional and commercial standards, as The Granary operates to generate funds for the charity. Saturday rota work is essential.
